Responsibilities
Generic Duties:
- Coordinate timely implementation of all aspects of the project related to the education activities in collaboration with the PM.
- Supervise and manage the education team staff and volunteers.
- Assist in the management of the resources of the project.
- Assist in program-related tasks such as raising PRs, developing lists of educational material, forms, and templates, and translations of documents, activities, and educational material.
- Ensuring quality implementation and achievements of results related to Education activities through observation, application of standard education tools, and FGDs with beneficiaries.
- Provide updates about needs and vulnerabilities affecting beneficiaries and communities in relation to education.
- Supervise the teachers and learners, improvements and daily challenges to assess the impact and quality of the education services provided.
- Propose new/ tailor/ adapt activities according to identified needs and suggest solutions for problems encountered during the implementation.
- Support the Project Manager and Programme Coordinator in the design of educational training content and supervise training correct implementation and results;
- Participate in trainings and workshops on education-related topics and other capacity-building activities according to the project needs and requests from the Project Manager and the Programme Coordinator;
- coordinate with INTERSOS Engineer for the timely completion of rehabilitation works in target schools.
- Support INTERSOS Engineer in the coordination with MoE for rehabilitating target schools.
- Contribute to the identification of new opportunities for education projects and improve the education strategy of INTERSOS in the country.

Monitoring and Reporting:
- General monitoring of the implementation of the project, providing guidance to the team in the planning and scheduling of the education activities.
- Conduct regular field visits to supervise the activities (distribution, training, NFE, etc.) according to the planned schedule as well as ad hoc visits according to needs.
- Ensure the activities are fully documented through attendance sheets of participants, pictures, videos, and activities ad hoc reports.
- Ensure systematic and timely data collection and guarantee the data entry on a regular basis as per the standard monitoring formats and in coordination with the INTERSOS MEAL department;
- Provide monthly report to the Project Manager providing updates on the progress of education activities against indicators/targets and highlighting challenges and solutions;
- Take part in/conduct assessments in the same and/or different areas from the project & implementation site when required.

Coordination and representation:
- Establish and maintain positive working relations with authorities and relevant stakeholders in the community to ensure cooperation and success of project implementation;
- Establish and maintain positive working relations with DoE and MoE ensuring constant information sharing, reporting, and coordination.
- Establish and maintain positive working relations with school supervisors, school Principals, and teachers ensuring the link between non-formal and formal education.
- Represent INTERSOS in meetings and working groups as required by the Project Manager.
- Support the Project Manager and Programme Coordinator in strengthening the local network, authorities, and other NGOs/Agencies.
- Ensure adherence to INTERSOS and donor's administrative rules and regulations.

Others:
- Perform any other task not listed here and necessary for the implementation of the project activities or the mission program as requested by the Programme Manager.

Qualifications
- University Degree in Education, Arts and Social Sciences, Language and Literature, Humanitarian crisis or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar position with INGOs (2 years).
- Strong knowledge of the Education system in Syria.
- Strong understanding of the Syria crisis & impact on the population and especially on children.
- Good IT knowledge and skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and observation capacity.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel across the assigned project areas at short notice and spend extended periods with communities.
- Previous experience in supervising educational activities.
- Excellent communication skills with different population groups (age, gender, social status, etc.).
- A high degree of flexibility and ability to work in insecure, stressful, and hardship environments;
- High confidentiality, respect and non-discriminatory attitude;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Ability and willingness to travel across the assigned project areas at short notice and spend extended periods of time with communities;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
